Movies I Must (Will) See: The Hangover

April 2, 2009

This is, without a doubt, the hardest I have ever laughed after a movie trailer.

Something severe will have to occur in my life for me to not see this movie opening weekend.

White dudes releasing their inner-fratboy in Vegas by drinking excessive amounts? CHECK!

Baby in sunglasses AND said baby getting hit by an object? CHECK!

Iron Mike playing air-drums to the omniscient Phil Collins? CHECK!

Tigers? CHECK!

For more info (and the extended, even more hilarious trailer), check out the rundown.

Movies – The Wrestler

February 5, 2009

With all the hoopla surrounding Mickey Rourke’s performance… this is a movie I have been looking forward to seeing for quite some time. Now that it’s starting to get a wider-release, look for my review as soon as I can get my ass to a movie theater!

Theater Visit – NOTORIOUS

January 21, 2009

So on MLK Jr. Day, while much of the country spent the day as a “day of service”… I ended up going to see the new Notorious movie with the homies Jamall and LC Weber.

In all, the movie was very well done and far exceeded what any of us were expecting. Everybody did an excellent job playing their roles, and it was also a shock to us when we found out that Christopher Wallace’s son even played a young Biggie in the beginning of the movie!

While the storyline felt a little “stretched” at times, the basic story (that most us know/remember) seemed to be in tact pretty well.

It’s definitely worth seeing if you have the time.

My overrall score: 75 / 100.

Movies – New York, I Love You

January 7, 2009

The same producer that did Paris, Je T’Aime did this movie I’m really looking forward to seeing, New York, I Love You. The trailer is below, and it’s supposed to be coming out sometime in early 2009 (in post-production now).

This movie has a long list of a star-studded cast, and I understand it as 12 vignettes that eventually all connect… I’ll be seeing this in theaters.

Movies – Slumdog Millionaire

January 6, 2009

Okay, so if you haven’t heard of this movie by now, you’ve been sleeping under a rock. I saw this joint a couple weeks back, when I was back home in the Midwest, and loved it.

Slumdog Millionaire is directed by Danny Boyle, who also did another one of my favorite movies, Trainspotting. Peep the trailer for Slumdog below… and get thee to a movie theater ASAP. It’s by far one of the greatest movies I’ve seen in a very long time…
